About OSS

Over half of our student population is involved in athletics whether it is on a school team or lunchtime intramurals. Students have the opportunity to be involved in many other ways including Drama club and Rattler Club. OSS also offers a sports academy program. In the fall we run a hockey academy where students are on the ice four days a week and one day off-ice focusing on strength and development, sport specific conditioning, and strategy. In the spring, students have the opportunity to take part in the golf academy at Osoyoos Golf Club, which is a world class 36-hole course. If you would like more information about our academies, please contact the office.
We run a non-traditional, flexible timetable at OSS. Our students have less scheduled contact times per class per week than a regular timetable. The extra time is given to students as Learning Centres where students can choose which courses to work on. This allows students the flexibility to concentrate on their own needs and choose which course deserves their attention each day. This timetable works well to address the ideals of the new BC curriculum, where education is geared to be more personal and individual. It also allows us, as a small school, to offer more courses. Our students gain the benefits of small school, with small class sizes, combined with the course offerings of a larger school.
