About OSS
OSS is a rural 8-12 school in sunny Osoyoos. Our three-building campus overlooks Canada's warmest lake and our students spend plenty of time outside enjoying our terrific weather. For a small school, we have lots going on and pride ourselves on offering our students quality academics while remaining a close-knit school community. We also offer a wide range of elective options including automotives, robotics, drafting, woodwork, foods, musical theatre, computers and metal shop.
Over half of our student population is involved in athletics whether it is on a school team or lunchtime intramurals. Students have the opportunity to be involved in many other ways including Drama club and Rattler Club. OSS also offers a sports academy program. In the spring, students have the opportunity to take part in the golf academy at Osoyoos Golf Club, which is a world class 36-hole course. If you would like more information about our academies, please contact the office.
We run a five-block non-rotating timetable at OSS with 61 minute classes. The five-block schedule allows us to offer more courses at OSS as each teacher teaches 8 courses rather than the traditional 7. Our students gain the benefits of small school, with small class sizes, combined with the course offerings of a larger school. Most students from grade 10-12 have at least one learning centre block which affords students time to work on assignments under the supervision of a teacher.
